 Your Monday quote...

Be yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through every sentence you write, every piece you finish.

A quote about writing to get your week going off on a good start~

Detail makes the difference between boring and terrific writing. It’s the difference between a pencil sketch and a lush oil painting. As a writer, words are your paint. Use all the colors.

Do you hear that noise? It's seconds ticking by until Nano. Every letter I type is one moment closer to the big day where we all willingly commit ourselves to the NaNo Asylum. Anyone else jazzed?

How is your plotting going? Are you loving your characters yet? Do you think that you quite possibly have the greatest universe created since JR Tolkien himself? Go you.

Or maybe you're like me, you have the plot and characters down, but you're still unsure of exactly where to go.

Or maybe you're like my friend, who doesn't have a single character or a single plot, but is ready for NaNo to start anyway.

You're not alone. No matter what stage in the planning process you're in. And today we're going to prove that.

I'm going to list all the "common" genres of writing below and if you're planning on doing that genre for NaNo - be it original fiction or fanfiction, just reply with your name and whatever you want. If you have questions that you'd love to pick the brain of people who write that genre, post them below it! Let's get some awesome discussion going and really support each other through this planning time!

Nano '10 is going to the best!

So July will be here next week and [livejournal.com profile] allyear_sprints will be there to assist you. It'll be epic and awesome and I'm working on a kick off celebration, Mazel style. Huzzah.

But I want to talk to you for just a second about the rules.

Just like regular NANO, the rules of JulNanoWrimo are 50K in a month. And that's fine and dandy, but in my humble and honest opinion, rules? They're kinda meant to be broken.

I think the fun of July Nano is that you don't have to take it as SERIOUSLY as regular Nano. (Although let's be real, regular nano isn't 100% serious business either).

In fact, here's what I'm doing for JulNanoWriMo.

I'm writing a one shot, every day for the first 18 days. The one shot will be between 1500 - 3000 words. I'm not going to be around after the 18th - I'm gone until August 1st, so you can see my problem with doing a traditional nano.

And yet, I'm still excited and happy.

It's okay to bend the rules and yet still say you're participating. After all, it's writing. It's supposed to be creative and everyone's supposed to have their own style.

Maybe you don't think you have enough time/energy to plot and write out a whole new novel. OKAY THAT's FINE! Still join us for JulNanoWrimo. It'll be fun to write with people and have a blast.

So who's with me? Who's in? Who's going for the traditional 50K and who's tweaking the rules to fit their needs?

Tell me in the comments.
