Members who harass others in the chat, through email, Livejournal, Facebook or any other social media will be permanently banned. This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Our rules have not changed nor relaxed since the end of NaNoWriMo. We ask that you respect our rules and our mods. The goal of the chat is to be a fun and safe space for writers to be creative, support their fellow writers, and write. Thank you.

Hello, Sprinters! How are you all doing?

Tamiqua and I have been busy working on plans for NaNoWriMo, and we would love your help! We are looking for four or five dedicated individuals to join our moderator team as Temporary Hosts for the month of November! If you think you'd be interested click under the cut for more information!

If you are NOT a member of [livejournal.com profile] sprints_mods and helped last year and would be interested in helping this year, please apply again.

We can't run sprints without additional help (well we could, but Tami and I would be a pile of drooling goo at the end of Novemb- wait, we always are anyway ... but still, help us please) so we really need some of you, who are able, to step up and join the call to mod! It's awesome and worthwhile.

Details under the cut.

Hi everyone! We apologize for not hosting sprints very regularly lately. D:

It seems like just yesterday that the year was beginning, yet March is almost over, which means that April is now upon us… And April means…

Script Frenzy

Similar to NaNo the goal of Script Frenzy is to write a certain amount within a set time period, though unlike NaNo it's not a set wordcount, but rather 100 pages of a script in the month of April. That is roughly 3.3 pages a day!

My question for all of you is: How many of you plan to participate in script frenzy this year?
Or, if you're not doing script frenzy, how many of you are planning to work on a random project this coming month?

Hey guys! Here's your spring schedule for Friday, November 19th

Evening Sprints 8-11 pm EST : [livejournal.com profile] jupitersings
NaNo into the night 11pm -2 am EST: [livejournal.com profile] writingvixen

A note about the sprint rooms in general. We realize that the web client won't work for everyone, and some of the mods have chosen to run sprints in both rooms when they can. As with before, we don't mind if you run sprints under the room names we've been using on AIM, however we do ask that you are respectful of the mods when they come in. Chances are, unless they are scheduled to start sprints soon in that room, they won't interrupt your sprinting.

We know things have been hard lately, and we're sorry for the inconveniences that we may have given you. But trust me when I say it isn't that enjoyable for us either. We're trying our best here, and we're really happy that so many of you have stuck with us through all of the drama.

Also, if you are unable to use Aim, the webclient, or in general just want writing buddies to chat with, we've created a post here: http://community.livejournal.com/nanowrimo/2283325.html

Thank you for those who have applied to help be mods. We have a great group of applicants and will be letting you know shortly if you're going to be part of the All Year Mod Team for Nano '10.

But! That said, we still would love to take a few more applicants. To be honest, the more mods we have? The more sprints we can run, and the better NaNo will be for you guys. So really, if you've been sitting on the fence about it or wondering if MAYBE you'd like to do one or two evenings a week or maybe a day sprint - which we need LOTS of people to help run those - apply. We love this community because of you guys and if I might be so bold to say, I think this is one of the best writing communities on LJ, simply because of the fact that we consistently support each other with our writing through the great invention of sprinting.

So help keep us great. Help us help this community. If you're able and willing to help us just moderate/run a few sprints during the month of NaNo, just send in an ap. It's that easy.

Also!

We are seeking to interview a few of you guys who have done NaNo two or more years. So if you would like me to interview you, to include in an upcoming post, let me know. I'm going to be asking questions about what motivates you, how to plot, what happens to your brain around November 15th and a few other things, for those who are NaNo savvy.

So, if you're willing to help out in that way, shoot me a comment right here on this post and I'll be in touch!

So July will be here next week and [livejournal.com profile] allyear_sprints will be there to assist you. It'll be epic and awesome and I'm working on a kick off celebration, Mazel style. Huzzah.

But I want to talk to you for just a second about the rules.

Just like regular NANO, the rules of JulNanoWrimo are 50K in a month. And that's fine and dandy, but in my humble and honest opinion, rules? They're kinda meant to be broken.

I think the fun of July Nano is that you don't have to take it as SERIOUSLY as regular Nano. (Although let's be real, regular nano isn't 100% serious business either).

In fact, here's what I'm doing for JulNanoWriMo.

I'm writing a one shot, every day for the first 18 days. The one shot will be between 1500 - 3000 words. I'm not going to be around after the 18th - I'm gone until August 1st, so you can see my problem with doing a traditional nano.

And yet, I'm still excited and happy.

It's okay to bend the rules and yet still say you're participating. After all, it's writing. It's supposed to be creative and everyone's supposed to have their own style.

Maybe you don't think you have enough time/energy to plot and write out a whole new novel. OKAY THAT's FINE! Still join us for JulNanoWrimo. It'll be fun to write with people and have a blast.

So who's with me? Who's in? Who's going for the traditional 50K and who's tweaking the rules to fit their needs?

Tell me in the comments.

Hello, Everyone!

As writers we are constantly looking for new resources, challenges, and places to share our thoughts. And so we here at All Year would like to create a list of links that can serve as a resource for the members to look at and find useful things to help them with their writing.

If you have any links that you have found particularly useful in your writing process, be it a challenge community, website with prompts, or just another writing community that you feel has helped you as an author, we would like for you to give it to us.
At this point we are not looking for personal writing blogs, or personal websites, though we may create a post where everyone can post links to their personal sites later.

Writing Resources and Links )

The list that I have posted is by no means complete, it is just a list of websites from our old link post, as well as some suggestions that people have given to me personally. I will update this post with your links if you give them to me. :D

Hello Everyone, and Welcome to All Year Sprints!

There are a few posts that you can expect from us every week, and the main of those is your weekly schedule. We will aim to get this posted on Sunday or Monday every week and it will include the times that you are guaranteed sprints.

These are not the only times that sprints will be open as many of our moderators will open the room at other times when convenient. Whenever a room is opened the moderator will try to post in the community to let everyone know.

It is important to note that the timezone we list all sprints in is EST, so if you are not in that time zone you will have to convert it to your time.
http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc

Also, the biggest difference you will note between the rooms during NaNoWriMo and now is that we only use ONE room: WRITINGSPRINTS. If at any time you want to sprint you can enter the room to see if other people are there, and post on the community that you'd like to sprint. :)

(And no, I don't mean THAT kind of ending...)

It's with a sad heart that I am stepping down as moderator for this community. With the start of a new business and things with my daughter getting a little more hectic over the last few months, I just don't have the time I used to for making sure things are running smoothly and easily.
In the last month and a half [livejournal.com profile] writingvixen and [livejournal.com profile] junipersings have been doing everything behind the scenes to make sure mods are available to you and that things don't fall totally apart. With that in mind, I am going to be placing this community in their more than capable hands.
I will still be around for running sprints and the occasional day of goofing off, I just won't be handling all of the other stuff that goes along with making this community as great as it is.
So please, give Mel and Tami your warmest regards, and treat them as kindly as you've treated me.
Thanks everyone!
